Courage: What Does That Word Mean To You?
As a kid, being courageous looked vastly different compared to today. Then you needed courage to walk home in the dark. Today you need courage to face a world of uncertainties. Life has its way of scaring the life out of you… for real. Look at what the Bible says.
Joshua 1:9-11
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
10 So Joshua ordered the officers of the people:
11 “Go through the camp and tell the people, ‘Get your provisions ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the LORD your God is giving you for your own.’ ”
We see that it’s a commandment, to not be afraid because God will be with us wherever we go. Do we believe that?
Even though the people were still afraid God ordered them to make provisions, to “get ready”!
This is so exciting for us. When we are at our lowest points, when we are engulfed in the greatest fear, God is telling us to be ready and to make provisions. I believe he is saying that change is a’coming. Are you prepared for this change?
I pray for you this evening that your fear will subside and your anxiety will be depleted. God has a plan for us all. Make provisions and be ready. This verse is so encouraging! A new year is around the corner.
